Dr. Amma Darko, DNP, APRN, CNP-PC

Dr. Amma Darko is a dedicated Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with over 12 years of experience in providing exceptional quality patient care. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 2009, she sought the need to further her education in order to provide comprehensive care to her patients. As a result, she pursued and received her Masters of Science in Nursing degree (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialty) from Yale University in 2012. Shortly afterwards, she obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Duke University. Having graduated with high honors from each University that she attended and having acquired over 12 years of experience from the various pediatric outpatient, inpatient and community health care settings she’s worked in, Dr. Amma Darko has developed a comprehensive understanding of the pediatric specialty.

Dr. Amma Darko is committed to advancing medical knowledge and practices, holding memberships in Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, American Nurses Association(ANA), National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners(NAPNAP), DNP’s of Color (DOC), Southern Connecticut Black Nurses Association, National Black Nurses Association (NBNA), and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

She is the recipient of First Choice Health Centers(FCHC) Pediatrics- Excellent in Outcomes Professional Leadership Award. Additionally, she has contributed to numerous presentations and conferences, sharing insights on topics related to pediatric health care. One memorable instance was when she was chosen to represent the State of Connecticut (CT) in discussing Nurse Practitioner’s COVID-19 vaccine efforts with the White House Covid-19 task force and CDC in 2021.

With a patient-centered approach, Dr. Amma Darko believes in fostering strong relationships with patients and their families, ensuring they feel empowered and informed throughout their healthcare journey. She utilizes her knowledge and clinical skills to deliver compassionate, individualistic, and wholistic care to her patients. She values the concerns of her patients as well as their parents/guardians. Dr. Amma Darko strives to ensure communication and collaboration are maintained as they are the key to achieving optimal health outcomes.
